Privacy policy

The Ontones mobile app is an invite-only personnel and apparatus directory for fire and rescue staff. It is not a 911 dispatch system, not a medical product, and not a government service. It does not collect device location, photos, or contacts.

The Ontones website includes that directory. For invited fire-company users in counties that have Incidents turned on, the website may also store incident records and, when the department has enrolled, transmit them to NERIS (the National Emergency Response Information System, operated with FSRI / USFA). Incident addresses and narratives are department records.

What we collect

When you use Ontones we process:

  • Account: email, name, optional phone, role, and the county or agency you belong to.
  • Session: a signed-in session so you stay logged in on this browser or the mobile app until you sign out or delete the account.
  • Directory data you are authorized to view: roster members and apparatus for your county. That is department information, not data we collect from your device.
  • Website incident records (invited fire-company users only): incident number, kind of call, address and map pin, times, units, narrative, actions, and related department fields. EMS agencies do not file these records in Ontones.

The mobile app does not collect device location, photos, contacts, files, advertising IDs, or crash analytics.

The website may store an incident address and map coordinates that you type or look up when filing a report. That is not device GPS from the mobile app.

Why we collect it

We use this information to authenticate invited agency staff and to show the personnel and apparatus directory for their county. On the website, we also use it so a fire company can keep incident reports as department records and, when enrolled, send them to NERIS. Accounts are invite-only. There is no public sign-up and no guest mode, because roster, apparatus, and incident records are confidential agency data.

Third parties

Supabase provides authentication and the database. They process account, directory, and incident data as our backend, not as an advertising partner. We do not sell personal information. The current mobile app has no ads and no analytics SDK.

Mapbox may receive a typed address from the website so we can suggest a pin. If that lookup is not configured, you can still type the address and place the pin yourself.

NERIS (FSRI / USFA) receives incident data only when a fire department has enrolled Ontones and a user submits a report. Drafts stay in Ontones until then.

Retention

Your login and profile stay until you delete the account. After deletion, county roster members, apparatus, agencies, and incident reports remain — those are the department’s records, not your personal account. Audit rows may keep a user id after your name and email are removed, so history of who changed a record is not silently rewritten.

Delete your account

You can delete your Ontones login yourself. We do not require a phone call, email, or support ticket.

  • In the app: open the Account tab, then tap Delete Account.
  • On the website: sign in and open Account, then choose Delete Account. If you already uninstalled the app, recover or set your password on the website first if needed.

Deleted: your login (email and password), profile (name, phone, role), and sessions. You will not be able to sign back in.

Not deleted: county roster members, apparatus, agencies, or incident reports. Those stay with the department.
